The human behind the prisoner
A total of 77 men from 27 different countries. Different cultures, different religions without exception all in custody for the time being. Some even up to 8 years without even seeing a family member. you will not easily see them cry during the day, while their eyes hide their deep sorrow. All longing for home, back to their wives, children or even their mother. Together they live in a community, forced by a single misstep in their lives. Young fathers who, with a great sense of responsibility, sought a quick solution to a financial dilemma. Others maybe as quick money or to finance a standard of living. Unfortunately with enormous consequences that will change their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
Treating prisoners right is important
Treating prisoners with basic human rights is crucial for creating a fair and just criminal justice system. It is not only ethical to provide prisoners with decent living conditions and basic rights, but also beneficial for reducing recidivism rates and promoting successful reentry to society.
Firstly, prisoners are entitled to the basic human rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. All individuals, no matter their criminal history, should be given dignity and treated with respect. Basic human rights, such as access to healthcare, sanitation, and food, are a necessary part of ensuring prisoners are treated humanely. Without access to these basic necessities, prisoners may suffer from malnutrition, illness, or physical harm, which could lead to more severe health issues and even death.
Secondly, treating prisoners with dignity and providing basic human rights can lead to positive outcomes and reduce recidivism rates. When prisoners are treated decently and are given access to education or skill-building programs, they are more likely to return to society as contributing members. On the other hand, prisoners who are not provided with these opportunities or are treated poorly during their time in prison, may struggle to find work, re-integrate into society, or fall back into criminal behavior.
Furthermore, providing prisoners with basic human rights can benefit society as a whole. When prisoners are treated with respect and their basic needs are met, they are less likely to develop a sense of resentment for society or the criminal justice system. This can help to reduce the risk of violence, protests, or riots within the prison community, keeping staff and inmates safe.
In conclusion, treating prisoners with basic human rights is essential for creating a fair and just criminal justice system. It is not only ethical but also necessary for reducing recidivism rates, promoting successful reentry to society, and benefiting society as a whole. By prioritizing the needs of prisoners and respecting their basic rights, we can create a system that is focused on rehabilitation and fostering a safe and supportive environment.

Learn about the alarming case of Mauritian Police Officer Daniel Telvar
Learn about Daniel Telvar, a corrupt police officer in Mauritius who systematically abuses the system for personal gain. Explore the repercussions of his actions and the impact on the justice system in Mauritius
Examples of misbehaviour within the CID Department of the Mauritius Police Force
An instance that illustrates the issue is a case involving an international business owner falsely accused in Mauritius. Sergeant Daniel Telvar, the assigned investigator, seemingly obstructed the investigation intentionally, prompting the defendant and their legal team to delve into their own inquiry. The subsequent findings led to the filing of an official criminal complaint against Sergeant Telvar due to various concerning behaviors observed throughout the process.
The interactions with Sergeant Daniel Telvar have revealed what can only be described as severe professional misconduct. His actions during the investigation were deeply troubling, raising significant ethical questions. Some key points of contention include blackmailing by using private pictures from the defendant suspect in the private phone of Sergeant Daniel Telvar, deliberate delays in interrogation scheduling, allegations of false accusations and mistreatment, refusal to acknowledge defence evidence, and unprofessional conduct intertwining personal affairs with official duties.
Sergeant Daniel Telvar is recognized for presenting various personas in various scenarios. He exemplifies an individual with a modest monthly income who exhausts every opportunity to supplement his earnings during his tenure. Evidently, he transgresses the boundaries of acceptable conduct expected in his role within the Mauritius Police Force. Illustratively, he misuses official vehicles for private outings to meet romantic partners in secluded locations or for personal shopping escapades. During interrogations, Sergeant Daniel Telvar unrestrainedly resorts to coercion and intimidatory tactics, employing unauthorized methods such as making threats against suspects.
Furthermore, the misuse of authority and powers within the Mauritius Police Force have exacerbated the situation. The investigation has been marred by unprofessional behaviors and deliberate hindrances, resulting in disruptions to personal and professional life, including adverse effects on business operations spanning different countries.
The mishandling of the inquiry, coupled with delays and lack of thoroughness, has left the business owner in a state of uncertainty. Additionally, Sergeant Telvar's apparent lack of understanding of international business intricacies has added to the burden faced by the individual, leading to business closures, employee layoffs, and operational restrictions.
The prolonged investigation has not only impacted the business but has also impeded the rights and reputation of the accused. The conduct of Sergeant Daniel Telvar and his team, as outlined, casts doubts on the integrity of the investigation and raises concerns about the fairness and transparency of the process.
In response to these pressing issues, a formal complaint has been lodged against Sergeant Daniel Telvar, seeking prompt attention and corrective actions to ensure a just and unbiased investigative procedure. Such instances not only jeopardize individual rights but also pose a broader risk to the treatment of foreigners in Mauritius, underscoring the need for accountability and fair treatment within the justice system.
In the court hearings at Bambous, Sergeant Daniel Telvar was sworn under oath. However, the defendant consistently demonstrated that Sergeant Daniel Telvar was dishonest under oath and abusing his authority as a police officer, seemingly confident that the court would not hold him accountable for perjury. Multiple records have been compiled during official investigations and have been submitted to the relevant authorities overseeing the probe into this criminal complaint.
Due to the Sergeant's Daniel Telvar misconduct and his personal connections within various police departments, we are filing this official criminal complaint because we fear potential illegal retaliation from the Mauritius Police force in response to this complaint. It is therefore important to state this officially in the website of Foreign Prisoners Network as well.

Sergeant Daniel Telvar - CID Mauritius
A notable example highlighting the problem is a situation where an international business proprietor was wrongly implicated in Mauritius. Sergeant Daniel Telvar, the investigator handling the case, appeared to impede the investigation deliberately. This led the accused individual and their legal representatives to conduct their own examination. The results of this independent investigation ultimately resulted in the submission of a formal criminal allegation against Sergeant Telvar, citing several troubling actions noticed during the investigation. In a typical setting, a CID Officer like Sergeant Daniel Telvar would have been dismissed from his position long ago due to his misconduct while on duty.
